The study of ionic liquid as a reusable solvent for the synthesis of glycosyl azide from glycosyl bromide

Abstract
A new method with mild and eco-friendly procedure for azido glycosylation of glycosylbromide 1 to glycosyl azide 2 was developed by using ionic liquid as a recyclable solvent andsilver trifluoromethanesulfonate (AgOTf) as an additive. The ionic liquid, buthyl pyridinuimbromide ([bpy][Br]) was prepared in high yield (91%) and used as an efficient, green andreusable solvent for this reaction. Glycosyl azide 2 was achieved in good yield (62%) andhigh selectivity.
