Abstract


Destination competitiveness and sustainability has become a critical issue in the Indonesia for a few years ago. Since 2010, the ministry of tourism and creative economy of Indonesia continues to develop into various areas of tourism destinations in order to develop tourism through Destination Management Organization (DMO) in various regions with the aim of accelerating the development of regional tourism destinations. Sabang was included as top fifteen locations in Indonesia which is developed by applying of DMO program. Sabang known as a location that has good seaport,where the wonderful of Indonesian tourism started, Sabang bay sheltered from the waves of the Indian Ocean and also to be one of the world excursions. Core resources and attractors are part of the model of competitiveness and sustainability that is adopted by Ritchie and Crouch as the primary factors attracting tourists. These are considered to be fundamental reasons that prospective visitors choose one destination over another. This research has major objective to know the affect of factors developing of core resources and attractors towards the competitiveness and sustainability in case of Sabang, Aceh province Indonesia. Correlation study as the type of this research, questionnaire was taken as the primary data with total number 204 respondents consist of domestic and international tourist. Multiple Regressions was used to know the affect of the factors developing of core resources and attractors. However, the result of this research are could be as the input to the local government and as the references for further similar research.
