Abstract

Polonium-210 activity concentrations in krill (Mycidaceae) collected during 2012-2013 from Samut Sakhon province part of the Gulf of Thailand coast were presented.  Seawater properties including pH, conductivity, salinity, DO and TDS were measured. The krill samples were freeze dried and determined on 210Po using radiochemical analysis technique. The 210Po activity concentrations were measured by means of alpha spectrometry using a surface barrier detector. The results were found to vary between (2.260 + 0.068) and (7.002 + 0.159) Bq.kg-1wet weight. The estimated consequent annual effective 210Po dose due to krill consumption were calculated and found to be in the range of 2.603 – 8.066 µSv.  The obtained effective dose levels were considered radiological safe for consumption.
