Relationship between Teaching Self-Efficacy and Teaching Profession Experience among Student Teachers in Bachelor of Education

Abstract


The purpose of the research was to study relationship between teaching self-efficacy and teaching profession experience in Bachelor of Education. The sample were 32 forth year and 37 fifth year student teachers, studying in Computer Education Program, Faculty of Technical Education, Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi. The research instrument was questionnaire of self-efficacy and outcome expectation of teaching for student teachers. The quantitative data analysis using statistical consists of percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, Pearson product moment correlation, t-test dependent, and the qualitative data from content analysis.

The research findings were as follow:

1. Gender had a negative relationship with teaching self-efficacy at .05 statistical level of significance, but had no relation to teaching outcome expectation.

2. The way of enrollment had no relationship with teaching self-efficacy and teaching outcome expectation.

3. Grade Point Average (GPA) had no relationship with teaching self-efficacy and teaching outcome expectation.

4. The intention of the teaching profession after graduate had a negative relationship with teaching outcome expectation at .05 statistical level of significance, but no relationship with teaching self-efficacy.

5. Teaching self-efficacy had relation to teaching outcome expectation at .01 statistical level of significance. The results mean showed that student teachers tend to be teaching profession experience in schools.
