Types of Elderly Tourism among the Government Official Retirees in Chonburi Province

Abstract


The study is a qualitative research. Aims to clarify types, problems and obstacles ofelderly tourism among the government official retirees. The key information providers areelderly who are member of the government official retirees club, Chonburi Province. Elevengovernment official retirees who had been toured more than 3 times per year were recruitedthrough purposive sample selection. Data were collected mainly through in-depth interviewby using semi-structure interview. The qualitative data were analyzed by using contentanalysis.This research revealed that most of the government official retirees preferecotourism, educational, and religious tourism. They also enjoy travelling to visit friends andrelatives and travelling whenever they are free. Ecotourism satisfies them very much becausethey impress to observe the development of many tourism sites. In addition, educationaltourism attracts them to visit various places and to follow the royal development projects atthe meantime.Throughout this research, there was no obstacle and problem while travelling andvisiting because they prepare a visiting plan in advance very well.Keywords: elderly, type of tourism, government official retirees
